Job Description:

Responsible for providing attentive in-home childcare by ensuring the children’s safety, well-being, daily care, nutrition, hygiene, developmental activities, and maintaining a clean, healthy household environment while supporting the family’s childcare needs.  

Requirements

  • Completion of a college, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma program of 1 to 2 years.
  • Minimum of 2 years and less than 3 years of relevant childcare experience.
  • Valid CPR Certificate.
  • Valid First Aid Certificate.
  • Ability to work on-site at the employer’s home.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Criminal Record Check.
  • Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Own reliable transportation.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience and Specialization

  • Minimum of 2 years and less than 3 years of childcare experience..
  • Experience providing care for children in a private home..
  • Experience supporting children’s hygiene, nutrition, safety and emotional well-being..

  • Key Responsibilities

    • Change diapers.
    • Sterilize bottles and prepare formulas.
    • Assume full responsibility for the household in the absence of parents.
    • Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties.
    • Travel with the family on trips and assist with child supervision and housekeeping duties.
    • Bathe, dress and feed infants and children.
    • Discipline children according to the methods requested by the parents.
    • Instruct children in personal hygiene and social development.
    • Keep records of daily activities and health information regarding children.
    • Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home.
    • Organize activities such as games and outings for children.
    • Prepare and serve nutritious meals.
    • Supervise and care for children.
    • Tend to the emotional well-being of children.
    • Accompany clients to appointments and social outings.
